PCI Emulation

Summary

A customer needed to verify their implementation of a PCI bus-mastering subsystem. Our hardware diagnostics work revealed that a problem was not in the customer's design, but with a third party tool vendor's hardware emulator. Irrefutable and revealing evidence was supplied to the tool vendor, which enabled the vendor to fix the problem quickly. ARM Based Testbench

Summary

An intellectual property core was purchased from a third party, into which the customer integrated an ARM CPU core. The third party provided a testbench which was based on the ARM ADS compiler. The testbench and a base of thousands of lines of legacy code were converted to the free GNU C Compiler (GCC) system. More...

Scatter Gather Refactoring

Summary

A large body of software code designed for a simulation environment needed to be converted to a real application. This code had a major portability issue, represented man years of effort, and had a large number of source files and data files. The conversion was performed with minimal impact to existing application level software, and also provided a return path to simulation for debugging analysis.

Emulator Code Cross-Reference

Summary

A key customer team member maintaining a huge software emulator application was soon to become unavailable. Another customer team member needed to come up to speed quickly on this overwhelming software system. To aid in this effort, an automatic documentation system was employed to cross-reference the emulator code and provide diagrams of this software system. Automation was put into place to regenerate this documentation nightly as new features were added to the emulator.
